Esko celebrates its 5,000th flexo installation worldwide

Esko marks a major milestone for its flexo photogravure solutions with the installation of its 5000th CDI/XPS unit.

It's a month of records in every sense of the word: with the hEIDELBERG sets world record for printing 450,000 sheets in 24 hours and 2,000 large-format printers sold by SwissQprint esko announces the installation of its 5,000th CDI/XPS system since 1996.

The Ghent, Belgium-based company focuses on simplifying packaging and label management. With 1,600 employees, Esko digitalizes, automates and connects the entire production process of packaging and label printers, premedia providers and converters. Its solutions cover CAD creation, prepress, flexo photogravure and print inspection, facilitating the production of quality packaging.

The Cyrel Digital Imager (CDI), the first flexo photogravure system launched by Esko in 1996, was designed to meet the need for precision and speed in flexo plate production. CDI technology uses a laser exposure process, guaranteeing exceptional sharpness and uniformity in plate engraving. By combining this precision with high resolutions of up to 4,000 dpi, Esko has positioned its systems among the most efficient for the production of high-quality flexographic plates.

The addition of XPS Crystal technology, introduced in 2016, has further improved workflow efficiency. This exposure device uses UV LEDs to uniformly expose plates in a single step, eliminating the irregularities associated with traditional exposure methods using mercury tubes. The uniformity of XPS exposure reduces variations and guarantees consistent print quality, even on long runs.
