MGI Digital Technology enters a new phase in its history with the departure of Edmond Abergel as Chairman. After 43 years at the helm of the French group specializing in digital printing and finishing solutions, the man who built MGI into a key player in the printing industry is handing over the reins to his Deputy Managing Director Tony Charlet. Although he retains a strategic role within the Fresnes-based group, this transition marks the end of an era and ushers in a new phase for MGI.
Edmond Abergel's legacy
Founder of MGI in 1982, Edmond Abergel led the family business to international stature. His leadership led to an alliance with Japan's Konica Minolta, which accelerated the group's global expansion. Today, with almost 300 employees and five industrial sites in France and Germany, MGI, which is listed on the NYSE Alternext Paris stock exchange, is a benchmark in the digital embellishment and industrial printing markets.
A legacy of continuity
Tony Charlet's appointment is part of a seamless handover process. With 25 years' experience at Konica Minolta and a gradual integration into MGI since 2020, first as a director, then as deputy managing director, he has acquired an in-depth understanding of the Group's challenges.
"I'm proud to pass on the torch to Tony Charlet, whose skills, commitment and leadership will ensure that our mission continues: to transform digital printing technologies to create new opportunities for growth." says Edmond Abergel.
Edmond Abergel's departure marks an important transition for MGI. Although he is stepping down as Chairman, he will continue to play a key role as Chief Operating Officer, in charge of Group strategy, bringing his expertise and experience to bear in this new phase.
