The Intergraphic company in Schiltigheim (Bas-Rhin) will be presenting its extensive collection of letterpress, lithographic, hand, linotype and offset presses during the Heritage Days on 19 and 20 September.
The company, which specialises in the purchase, refurbishment and resale of offset presses, mainly Heidelberg presses, has joined forces with the association l'Espace Européen Gutenberg in Starsburg to organise this event.
Entrepreneur Dominique Pignatelli, who founded Intergraphic in 1991, is passionate about printing and its history. Over the years, he has built up a collection of presses and machines, some of which are more than 150 years old.
All machines have been refurbished by the company. Intergraph, in collaboration with the Espace Européen Gutenberg, will offer guided tours and demonstrations during these days, at the end of which visitors will be able to leave with a printed object, announces the association.
The Espace Gutenberg, an association of more than a hundred members that promotes the heritage and know-how of printers, is also organising a meeting on the Ile Coléo-Gutenberg in Strasbourg where speakers will talk about Gutenberg's work, typographic printing and the history of the place.
