Canon's LabelStream 4000 series has achieved Pantone Capable certification. This makes it the first UV inkjet press ever to achieve this Pantone Capable certification. Pantone Capable guarantees that the LabelStream 4000 industrial UV inkjet label presses produce "on a precise and regular basis" a wide range of Pantone colours.
More precisely, the LabelStream 4000 series with Xaar 2001 printheads is capable of reproducing on coated paper, 1740 of the 2140 colours of Pantone Solid Formula Guide with five colours - CMJNO - and a Delta E 2000
And by applying a Delta E of 2, which is very common in conventional production, label printers achieve 96% of the Pantone gamut, still with only five colours.
This colorimetric precision and extended gamut make it possible to switch from conventional printing to inkjet production without tedious configuration, the manufacturer points out.
In 2020, the LabelStream 4000 series was also the first digital colour press to be certified to meet the requirements of Fogra's ProcessStandard Digital (PSD) Print Check, surpassing 7-colour presses in 6 colours.
