Groupe Prenant: new markets won thanks to its Landa S10P

The Landa S10P press, installed at the Prenant group

Philippe Vanheste, deputy general manager of the Prenant Group, shares his experience of a year of using nanographic technology.

The Prenant printing group was the first printing company in France to invest in Landa's new printing technology, nanography. One year after the installation of the Landa S10P press, Philippe Vanheste, the deputy general manager, makes a first assessment of this 75x105 double-sided press.

The press arrived in November 2019 at the group's sheetfed printing facility, Diamant Graphic, located in Choisy-le-Roi in the Val-de-Marne and went into production in January 2020. Covid and sanitary measures have also delayed the switch to 7 colors on the press. Currently in quadri, it should finally be upgraded in CMYK plus violet orange and green, mid-April.

Taking charge during the health crisis

But that hasn't stopped the printer from enjoying its press. With this new technology, the group considers itself a winner on several levels. "For starters, with Landa's DFE, it's a much simpler press to use. And, without plates, preparation is minimal, which means we can get the job done much faster." explains Philippe Vanheste.

Its operation is similar to digital printing. "It's a different way of thinking, a different way of approaching color than offset: the ideal Landa operator is able to market paper and handle digital workflow like a prepress operator. And besides, the time that covid has given us has made this changeover more serene."

The Landa is very competitive on runs of less than 1450 sheets

According to the printer, the Landa press is very competitive with traditional offset printing on files of less than 1450 sheets.

"But, we expect that number to increase as the speed of the Landa press increases. In addition, we plan to use the Landa S10P for customization as well as for the development and deployment of our AR (augmented reality, NDLR) ".

Elle Decoration's print won thanks to Landa

Thanks to this machine, the printer has won several contracts, including the printing of the French magazine Elle Decoration a 260-page collector's edition, printed in 900 copies.

The production cost is about 25% compared to offset printing, while maintaining the colorimetric requirements of the customer and without changing its own paper specially selected Magno Star Silk 115 gr/m 2 .

"The project for Elle Decoration perfectly illustrates the economic power of nanography, as well as its ability to satisfy the demand for high quality printing. With nearly 12 months of use, we are confident that through companies like ours, the S10P will transform the future of printing." assures Philippe Vanheste.

And with the installed press currently running eight hours a day, a second Landa press is already in the works.
