EFI has released the latest update to EFI Fiery Command WorkStation. Version 6.7 improves automation and job management and better handles increased short runs, the U.S. manufacturer announced.
"Producing a high volume of short, high-quality runs is part of Fiery's DNA, and we have always focused on the challenges posed by high volumes of short-run work." said John Henze, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at EFI Fiery.
Better find the tasks
Fiery Command WorkStation is the management software that comes with all Fiery digital print servers for sheet-fed printers as well as large and very large format.
This new version reduces the time required to administer and produce print jobs with several new features, including automatic job labeling using print presets, and a tool to search for jobs across all connected Fiery digital print servers.
"The fact that we can now search for jobs across all 10 of our Fiery digital print servers is just great, because it saves us up to 80 percent of the time and energy required for each search." says Manfred Gebauer, head of purchasing and technology process management at sedruck KG, a German company that was able to test the new features.

This new feature also allows supervisors to track the progress of a job, Manfred Gebauer continues: " Multiple discoveries across servers and queues can indicate production challenges that are difficult to identify through other means, allowing us to diagnose and correct problems faster, and get back to full production faster."
Command WorkStation works in tandem with the connected Fiery Workflow Suite software, simplifying and accelerating other important print job preparation tasks for print service providers as well.
Printers can save even more time by using Fiery Hot Folders with Command WorkStation 6.7 to automate server presets, or imposition templates. And for variable data jobs, users also have the ability to significantly streamline the job submission process with the integrated Fiery FreeForm Create solution.
