Unveiled in July 2022, konica's AccurioLabel 400 digital label press is coming to the European continent. The very first press was installed at Imprimerie Coste & Fils, based in Aubenas in the Ardèche, in February.
Specializing in medical Cerfa forms, the offset printer entered the label market four years ago with Konica Minolta's previous model, the AccurioLabel 230 digital press.
Anthony Fambon, who runs the 30-person printing company with his brother Nicolas, says: "Digital label production offers us real opportunities to grow our business profitably (...) The robustness, ease of use of the machines, and their outstanding quality are the main reasons for our decision to invest in Konica Minolta systems again."
The AccurioLabel 400 is a toner press for medium and large volumes of labels, configured at the Ardèche printing house in four-color plus white.
More demanding label markets with the AccurioLabel 400
Nicolas Fambon explains in a video of the Japanese manufacturer, that, thanks to its on-line spectrophotometer, this new machine allows to answer "to more demanding customers, especially those referenced in supermarket chains", and who must "present identical labels all the time". In addition to saving time (the maximum speed of the AccurioLabel 400 is 39.9 m/min compared to 23 m/min for the AccurioLabel 230), the print shop now benefits from the white option, opening up new technical possibilities.
For the Japanese manufacturer, the Ardèche printing plant is another example of the evolution of the market where a growing number of converters and printing suppliers are investing heavily in digital production.
