Reel printing: Canon expands its range with the ColorStream 8200 and ColorStream 8110 presses

The ColorStream range of web-fed inkjet presses now includes a faster model, the ColorStream 8200, and an entry-level model, the ColorStream 8110.

Canon expands its range of high-speed web-fed color inkjet presses with two new models, the ColorStream 8110 and ColorStream 8200.

The ColorStream 8200, now the most automated and productive model in the range, reaches speeds of 200 meters per minute or 2,692 A4 pages per minute. Canon recommends it for communications, transactional and publishing applications, as well as for printers who need to absorb production peaks while printing a variety of jobs such as transactional documents, publications, books, direct mail and product leaflets.

As for the ColorStream 8110, with a speed of 110 meters per minute, it is designed for printers who want a new ColorStream without having to change their existing finishing equipment.

The ColorStream 8110 and ColorStream 8200 join the ColorStream 8000 range, which includes the ColorStream 8133 and ColorStream 8160.

This range, with its 1200Â dpi print speeds and 165 to 560Â mm web width, handles printing on uncoated, recycled, coated inkjet and uncoated inkjet paper from 40 to 160Â g/m² 2 .

Hans Schmidbauer of Canon Europe, said: "Customers of the ColorStream 8000 series are delighted with the robustness and print quality of these presses, and are complimentary about their level of automation, exceptional availability and overall efficiency. Thanks to our new flagship ColorStream 8200, we can now help them increase productivity tenfold without compromising reliability or quality. Corporate communication service providers and publishers appreciate the production of books and documents on uncoated papers that are easier to recycle, and we're confident they'll find the new ColorStream particularly attractive."

The new ColorStream 8200 will be presented for the first time at Drupa 2024. It will be integrated into a complete finishing solution for on-demand book production.
With Hunkeler pre-post equipment, the ColorStream 8200 will produce book blocks with automatic splice management. It will handle different formats, page counts and spine lengths, and print at maximum speed.
