Book sales in good shape at Fnac
The Fnac-Darty group, which includes Fnac, Darty and, since July, Nature et Découvertes, presents a "good level of activity" 1.8 billion in Q3 2020, up 7.3% like-for-like compared to Q3 2019. Good results due in particular to books. "Editorial products benefited from the good recovery in books, driven by the back-to-school literary season and the success of the Click & Collect 1-hour in all Fnac stores." This growth is particularly visible in France and Switzerland on the Internet channel.
Google could lose big in court
Google is being sued by the US government. The Californian Internet giant is accused of violating competition laws (antitrust law) to strengthen its monopoly on search engine services and online advertising. The government is pointing the finger at the contract signed with Apple to install Google Search on the iPhone by default. And the other dominant operating system for smartphones being Android, created by Google, the search engine is thus imposing itself on almost the entire mobile Internet market.
The case is expected to drag on for several years. The sentence, the most extreme case, could be the dismantling of the group.
