This means that this press can 93% of Pantone colors with four ink colors.

After a rigorous testing process, Canon's ProStream 1800 inkjet press has achieved Fogra59 certification. It is the first digital printing system in the world to meet this new color space exchange from the printing and media industry research institute Fogra.

The Fogra59 (or eciCMYKv2) ICC profile is the new version of the 2017 Fogra53 (eciCMYK) profile that features an adjusted gray balance. It is an offset and digital exchange color space with a wide range of colors.

"Until Fogra32, paper references are integrated into the profiles. Fogra51 is an ICC profile for coated paper, Fogra52 for uncoated paper. The Fogra53, which is today replaced by the 59, is without paper references and includes a much broader gamut, which integrates the offset and digital technologies for the first time" explains Philippe Reynaud, sales director of Canon France.

In other words, this standard makes it possible to work with homogeneous and reproducible colors at all stages of production.
This certification also means that the ProStream press reproduces with its four colors a gamut extending to 93% of Pantone colors depending on the paper used: it can reproduce 2182 of the 2334 Pantone colors with a CIEDE2000 < 2.0. Until now, this gamut was reserved for the presses with more than four colors.

Launched last July, the ProStream 1800 is a high-volume printing machine that reaches 133 m/min printing speed and handles a wide range of substrates, from coated papers, ordinary uncoated papers for offset printing, but also treated papers for inkjet printing, from 40 to 300 g/m 2 .

In addition to Fogra59 certification for the ProStream 1800, Canon has also achieved Fogra51 certification for the varioPrint iX series for its compliance with the ProcessStandard Digital (PSD) Print Check specification.
