To accelerate the transformation of its business, Konica Minolta is replacing its CEO.

At the board meeting held on February 24, 2022, the Japanese Konica Minolta Group decided to make a few management changes. Effective April 1, 2022, the current CEO, Shoei Yamana, becomes the executive chairman, and the group's vice president, Toshimitsu Taiko, replaces him as the company's head.

Toshimitsu Taiko, born in 1962, began his career at Minolta Camera in 1986. He remained with the group after its merger with Konica in 2003. In 2013, he became CEO of Konica Minolta's U.S. subsidiary, and in 2015 joined the group's board of directors. He returned to Japan the following year. After holding various management positions, including general manager of business planning and general manager of the professional printing business for commercial technologies, he was appointed director in 2018 and senior vice president and general manager in 2020. He has since been responsible for corporate planning, investor relations and corporate communications, in addition to enterprise technologies.

"Since the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020, people's values and behaviors have shifted, and the group's business environment has changed dramatically, explains the group in its press release. The transformation of the Office Printing and Production Printing businesses as the company's core businesses and the improvement of the profit-generating Industry, Healthcare and Industrial Printing businesses are a priority.

In order to complete the transformation of the business portfolio in the medium term and simultaneously address short-term issues, further strengthening of execution capabilities and capacity is needed."
