Canon's ColorStream 8160 takes over at Corlet Imprimeur 360

Corlet Numeric, now merged with Corlet Imprimeur, consolidates its machine park with the acquisition of a model of the Colorstream series to widen its offer in black printing.

After the VarioPrint iX, the VarioPrint 6000 Titan, it is now the digital roll-fed press with ColorStream 8160 inkjet technology that completes the Corlet group's digital press fleet. The monochrome version of the ColorStream 8160 found its place in the Normandy workshops of Corlet Imprimeur at the beginning of the autumn.

In 2021, Corlet Imprimeurs 360° achieved 50% of its 34 million euros turnover in the book sector. In addition, the company recently launched an online print-on-demand service called RapidBook. Faced with these increases in demand for books, the printer had to increase its production capacity, says Hervé Le Moyne, industrial director of the Corlet Group. And it is on the CorlorStream 8160 from Canon that the choice was made.

The CorlorStream 8160, a machine adapted to print on demand

"The Colorstream is positioned to complement our existing offering and broaden the spectrum of black printing which, all technologies combined, covers quantities from 1 to 50,000 copies." explains the Corlet Group.

With technologies that are becoming increasingly similar, offset and digital remain complementary. In the black book sector, digital presses offer "technical alternatives" says Hervé Le Moyne, to meet the demands of small runs.
