Rendering, registration, application... Three printers give feedback on using Canon's new imagePRESS V1000 toner printer.

Launched in April 2022, canon imagePress V1000 has just passed the 250 installations mark in Europe. On this occasion, the manufacturer asked some of its customers to share their experiences with this A3 color toner printer, which supports various media with weights from 52 to 400 g/m 2 .

Based on the imagePress series, this printer has many new features. The imagePress V1000 features a sensor-based color management system that automatically performs calibration, profiling and media control, an integrated cooling unit for consistent 100 ppm printing on a variety of substrates, and registration for double-sided printing of banners up to 1.3 meters.

The imagePress V1000, a brilliant finish

Peer Rüdiger, managing director of the German printing company Medienhaven, which produces high-end packaging and fine art prints, explains: "We frequently use a variety of finishing equipment for packaging production: the prints must be perfectly aligned for die-cutting. We chose the imagePress V1000 because the registration accuracy is very high and it is suitable for our larger applications."

The printing company is also particularly satisfied with the versatility of the possible supports and its rendering on thick supports. "The color stability is much better than on our old press and we were thrilled with the matte finish. This is a very unusual feature for a toner press, as the finish on this type of equipment is usually more glossy."

A toner printing quality close to offset

A Canon customer for more than 25 years, Oslo-based CopyCat has invested in not one, but three imagePress V1000s. Geir Thorbjĝrnsen, the Norwegian printing company's general manager, explains: "When we saw the tests of the imagePress V1000, we were impressed with the matte finish and near-offset quality."

He adds: "Our current presses (Canon, NDLR) have been in service for over five years and the quality of the output is consistently excellent. I am confident that by investing in the V1000, we are installing a solution that we can rely on now and in the future."

Registration for prints up to 1.3 meters long

Finnish digital and large-format printer Printworks was impressed "by the excellent print quality" of the Canon toner printer.

Sebastian Thon, Printworks production manager, states: "We were also struck by the registration achieved in real time on each sheet, for prints up to 1.3 meters long. We can now easily produce 8-10 page A4 accordion brochures or landscape brochures, which previously seemed out of our reach."

And Jukka Kari, general manager of the printing company, adds: "The low energy consumption of the press was an important factor for us, due to our policy for more sustainable production."

New business opportunities

Jennifer Kolloczek, marketing and innovation manager at Canon Europe, said: "We know that commercial printers and in-house print departments are facing tighter deadlines and more diverse specifications. (...) Positive feedback from a huge number of customers demonstrates that improvements in productivity, flexibility and automation are opening up new business opportunities and driving even greater success."
