Already several installations of Canon's varioPRINT iX planned

New customers were particularly attracted by the high print quality combined with such high production volumes, according to the manufacturer.

Officially launched on April 1, the new canon varioPRINT iX sheetfed inkjet press has already won over the printers. One of these machines is currently being installed and Canon has received several other orders across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Kampert-Nauta, a printing company located in the Netherlands, will be the first company in the world to be equipped with this new printing machine, with the iX3200 version (320 A4 double-sided image pages).
The 130-strong company produces a wide range of applications and was looking to migrate its specialist brochures, flyers, leaflets and greeting cards to inkjet.
Richard Kampert, its managing director, explains: "We were immediately enthusiastic about the possibilities that the varioPRINT iX series could offer us. The machine combines high quality, thick media and productivity. We want to produce short production runs without having to pass on higher costs to our customers. With the varioPRINT iX3200, we will be able to handle smaller and more diverse jobs cost-effectively"
He goes on to say: "The print quality of the varioPRINT iX is comparable to offset. And the other strong point is that the texture of the media remains visible, which is not the case with toner printing."

Another varioPRINT iX3200 will be installed in South Africa. The printing company wants to improve its production times and reduce paper waste on short print runs.

In England, a company that produces books, magazines and addressed mail, among other things, expects to increase its volumes with its varioPRINT iX2100 (210 A4 double-sided images per minute) thanks to a wider range of applications.

According to Canon, customers of the varioPRINT want to migrate to digital inkjet printing with this new equipment and are attracted by the high print quality at such high production volumes (from 1 to 10 million A4 images per month).

Peter Wolff, Canon's Vice President Production Print Products (PPP) EMEA, comments: "We are delighted to see that there has already been excellent adoption of the varioPRINT iX series in the general commercial printing market since its launch just over a month ago. (...) With the first returns to date, we expect many more customers to see the benefits this printer can bring to their businesses. For this market, digital inkjet solutions are the technology of today and tomorrow."
