New version of PRISMAproduction, Canon's workflow and production manager

This new version of PRISMAproduction automates data conversion and strengthens data security.

Canon Europe is launching the 6th version of its integrated workflow and production management platform PRISMAproduction. The new version shortens turnaround times and makes processes even more efficient, says its manufacturer.

Prepress capabilities have been enhanced to handle a wider variety of print file formats (PDF, AFP, online data, PCL, Postscript, PPML, LCDS, RDO and VIPP).

The tools in the new version have also been adapted to the increased file size of increasingly complex print jobs due to variable data or single prints.

Another new feature is that PRISMAproduction now runs on the Linux-based operating system SLES and incorporates enhanced security standards. Canon states: "With greater separation between the application software and the operating system and improvements in user management, the security of customer data is preserved and in line with their security standards as well as industry standards."

Michael Engemann, head of production control at the German health insurance company Continentale Krankenversicherung, reports: "When we tested PRISMAproduction, the production was so smooth that we decided to stick with this new version. We forgot it was an emerging version because it worked so well."

He continues: "For us, PRISMAproduction is more reliable and easier to use than our previous patented solution. (âeuros¦) Its reliability and stability are a real advantage."
