Mutoh launches XpertJet 1462UF, its printer for large-format objects

This 1,420 x 700 mm flatbed press prints in four-color process plus white and varnish on substrates up to 150 mm thick.

Mutoh's latest machine is now available on the European market. Unveiled at Fespa 2023 last May in Germany, the XpertJet 1462UF is a CMYK plus white plus varnish flatbed printer featuring a 1,420 x 700 mm printing table. This LED UV printer can print on objects up to 150 mm high. This feature makes the XpertJet 1462UF the Japanese brand's largest direct-to-object printer.

With a resolution of up to 1440 x 1440 dpi, the XPJ-1462UF printer is equipped with two staggered inkjet heads, one for four-color printing and the other for white and varnish, and two large UV LED lamps. "This configuration allows us to produce two-layer prints in a single pass, at twice the speed of printers with a single printhead and drying lamp." explains Stephan Heintjens, Head of Product Marketing and Product Application for Mutoh Europe, in a press release.

This flatbed table features automatic detection of substrate thickness. The table is divided into four suction zones, with holes for jigs, and can withstand loads of up to 50 kg/m².

The XPJ-1462UF can be used for a wide range of applications, including direct-to-object printing, packaging, Braille, sign and poster printing.
"This is a machine that will prove very interesting for many companies, especially screen printers who want to add direct-to-object digital printing to their production and industrial printers who want to improve the versatility and quality of their services."
