Wow effect: labels in fluorescent gold that glow at night

How can a brand stand out in a dark environment such as a nightclub? Foilco launches five fluorescent, UV-reactive gold foils that won't go unnoticed.

Something new on the finishing market. Hot foil stamping, which illuminates labels and packaging, can now be used to create particularly striking prints, visible both day and night. UK company Foilco has launched fluorescent foils that are reactive to UV light, ideal for use in discos, bars and other places where the light can't be seen "light is weak and energy is high" she says.

"Our fluorescent gilding is bright during the day, but at night, under the black light, it comes to lifeâeuros! Perfect for brands who aren't afraid to take risks, and who want to give their consumers unforgettable night-time retail experiences." says Jaime Evans, Foilco's Marketing Manager.

The range includes five gilding films: four colored - pink, orange, yellow and green (Club Pink, House Orange, Smiley Yellow, Trance Green) - and one transparent (Clubbers Transparent).

Five "Alive By Night" labels that stand out from the crowd

To demonstrate its possibilities and strengths, the series is presented in a collection of five labels called Alive By Night.
Created by English design agency Graphic Brands, these magnificent gin bottle labels are inspired by "neo-punk and retro aesthetics" . They were produced by printer Reflex Labels Plus on a Nilpeter FA22 12-color flexo press with Pantec Rhino inline hot foil unit, using plates from Denmark-based manufacturer Dreyer Kliche.

Alive By Night illustrates the use of these foils in nightclubs, where it's not possible to distinguish the drink brands behind the bar. Most people stay in their comfort zone and order something they're used to. With these labels under UV light, conversation will start. The effect is powerful and will encourage consumers to choose new brands," says Jaime Evans.

Traditional hot stamping foils for an extraordinary effect

"These films are like nothing else on the market today, it's the first time anyone has used them in this space, for their reactive qualities." he adds.

Alive By Night labels are designed to withstand repeated handling, retaining their luminous appearance for as long as possible, without fading or peeling.

Jaime Evans provides us with some technical information: "These are traditional hot stamping films, which are applied in exactly the same way as any other pigmented film." He explains: "Because of the structure of fluorescent films, the only precaution to take concerns dark substrates, on which some transparency may appear. To avoid this, you'll need to apply a white base."

Terry Cole, Creative Director of Graphic Brands, concludes: " We've already seen considerable interest in Alive By Night from brands looking to connect with a more experiential audience. These labels offer a new way to interact with consumers and create a memorable brand experience."
