Kodak opens a new plate production plant
Faced with a sharp rise in US demand for its Sonora uncoated offset plates, Kodak has opened a second production line at its Columbus, Georgia plant.
The American site now manufactures Sonora and Trillian SP plates on a larger scale for the North and South American markets. This increase in output is designed to secure delivery times while reducing environmental impact, thus meeting the growing demand for sustainability in the printing industry.
A new adhesive for flexible packaging from Sun Chemical
Sun Chemical introduces SunLam QA-8000+HA450, a solvent-free, ultra-low monomer (ULM) adhesive designed to meet the growing demands for sustainability in flexible packaging production.
Developed for high-end applications, SunLam QA-8000+HA450 replaces solvent-based solutions, while reducing environmental impact.
With its VOC-free formulation, this adhesive doesn't need to be dried on the lamination machine, thus limiting energy consumption.
It also features compatibility with Sun Chemical's water- and solvent-based inks, ensuring technical consistency for pasteurization, hot-fill and chemical resistance applications.
Unusual: a Braille poster campaign in JCDecaux bus shelters
The Fédération des Aveugles de France has invested 1,250 JCDecaux bus shelters in 12 regions of France with a unique campaign: posters entirely in Braille. Signed by artist The Blind, these tactile creations invite passers-by to touch them and discover their meanings on the association's website. The communication operation aims to "to bring Braille to life beyond commemorations, and to challenge all public players on the need for ambitious, coherent and long-term policies".

Handwriting: 95âeuros¯% of French people see it as a key to academic success
On the occasion of World Handwriting Day (January 23), the Union de la Filière Papetière (UFIPA) unveils an OpinionWay survey revealing that 95% of French people establish a direct link between the decline in handwriting and lower educational standards. This score is higher than in 2025 (89âeuros¯%).
Respondents also emphasize the cognitive benefits: better memorization (89âeuros¯%), stimulated thinking (90âeuros¯%) and enhanced creativity (84âeuros¯%). Over two-thirds (71âeuros¯%) regret writing too little by hand, a feeling shared by all age groups.
Against a backdrop of increasing digitization and the arrival of AI, this study confirms a deep attachment to handwriting, perceived not as an archaism but as a structuring skill to be preserved, particularly at school.
