This area will be equipped with a micro-factory that will produce flags, t-shirts and other textile products in front of the visitors every day

Visitors to Drupa, the leading trade fair for the graphic arts industry, to be held from 16 to 26 June 2020 in Düsseldorf, Germany, will be able to discover a new area in Hall 4: the Touchpoint Textile dedicated to digital textile printing applications.

With this forum, one of the five at the show, the organisers wanted to offer a space for exchange and demonstration that reflects the growing importance of digital textile printing and demonstrates its innovative and growth potential in new areas of activity for the printing industry.

"Continuous digitisation and cross-cutting technologies accelerate innovation says Sabine Geldermann, Director of Drupa, in a statement. The growth potential of textile printing is phenomenal. It is in this context that we are dedicating a special platform to these applications."

Touchpoint Textile is organized with two major partnerships: the Institute of Textile Technology and Process Engineering (DITF), located in Germany, which is the largest textile and fibre research centre in Europe, and the European Specialty Print Manufacturers Association (ESMA).

Touchpoint Textile will be equipped with a digital textile micro-plant, i.e. a fully networked integrated production line from customer specifications and design to fabric finishing. Multiple products, such as flags, t-shirts or bags, will be produced every day.

In particular, the micro-plant will present new possibilities for digitization and direct interaction with customers, such as 3D simulations of clothing with direct data transfer to virtual and augmented reality applications.

This mini production site imagined by DITF will show how digital textile printing, cutting and colour management can be integrated into a fully connected production environment.

And ESMA has prepared a programme of conferences on printing and finishing technologies, workflows, market developments and sustainability.

In addition to this special forum, digital textile printing will be present in all halls thanks to numerous exhibitors. Visitors to Drupa are thus assured of a 360-degree view of current developments and trends in this important sector.
